Slimline best version?

Hi,
I have been thinking about buying a slimline ps2 (because of the ethernet port) and modding it (probably with an Octapus 3D due to price and the features it has.
Can anyone please tell me though what is the best version of slimline to get? I know about the laser problems with the v12 and v13 and I dont know whether there is full protection avaliable or whether it is a bit of a gamble. And I also heard something about v15 not being able to play certain games?

V12 need the fix and they are 100% ok .. I can still find them new in my hood . Most systems you buy now are V13 + and have no problems just look for the 56k moddem if it has one its a V12 if not V13+ and no problems or fix need.

As for some games not playing that is on all Slim systems go to sony.com for the full list of Ps2 & psx games
