With all these dead machines wouldn't be better to look for alternatives.. Have anyone tried out the Slice Card? Does it work with every game? If it works ok it may be the best solution for those who have v9.

no it doesnt work with every game(doesnt work with most unless you wana start doing double and triple swaps). and it's actually a huge contributor to the piles of dead ps2's sitting in landfills and being sold on ebay with dead drives.

    I agree 100% with prisoner1138.
Keep away from Slide cards. Get a No Swap Modchip.

    You will not regret it.

A Slide Card is probably the easiest way to damage your PS2's CD/DVD drive. A better solution would be the flip-top lids. Then you are risking damage to the laser itself, though. The best solution is, undoubtedly, a no-swap modchip installed PROFESSIONALLY.

never messed about with the flip top's.

one major ? does the disc break/stop so you can swap with the fliptop in other words do you have to swap in mid spin, a simple circuit would be much better involving a switch that cuts supply to motor power on the main board so no damage i caused to the board.

a simple battery for the motor to eject and insert the tray.

save's getting dust on the lens and it's internal mirrors using the flip top and damaging the cogs doing the slide card method.

and blowing shit out of it using swap chip's.

but as others state just get a mod installed by a pro.

Well, the first chip I used was a: R-Mod No solder for v5/v6/v7

It worked normally like they said, but that chip dussent read rips so I quickly came on the idea to solder a chip in my PS2. Some topics are still here from me about my problems, LOL!!

I install quite mutch chip now, but the modchips with no swap are just the best, dude!! They are created to do something without damaging the laser

I never screwed up a PS2, but that's because I'm taking as long as I need. If I don't want to solder anymore I just finish my work the day after it. I'm defenetly not hurrying with soldering!

    Regards,

    Martijn

the discs themselfs are less damaging than modchips to the laser it's the methods that they are being used with flip top's forced eject mod's etc the main downside to the disc them selfs is toc problems.
