Hey,
After trying breaker pro and seeing how terrible it is I want to go back to looking into mod chips for my PS2 to allow me to play import/backup PS1 games w/ no slide card tricks. so whats the best chip for a fat PS2? Thank you.

Matrix Infinity.
But DMS 3 and DMS 4 and Crystal Chip are also very good.
The Modbo 745 is a good clone of the M.I.
also Modbo 3.0 and Modbo 4.0 and Duo 3 Ultra .i have used both Modbo 3.0 and Modbo 4.0
the current listed modchips work more of less the same but the DMS4 pro has its own HD-loader that works better than any outher HD-loader. although it has the problem of being difficult to install without the solderless kit. I would definatley go cristal chips or matrix over the light version of the DMS 4 because they have more crosstalk issues and tend to be difficult to get working at first, where the matrix and cristal generally work as long as you have the wires soldered right. The difficultys of the DMS4 do not really matter if your not installing it yourself though.

i would recommend that you get cheap and working psx console and chip it with a stealth 2 modchip (mod-chip.bz). you can get a psx console and a chip for the price of a matrix infinity or DMS chip.
ps2 lasers work harder to read ps2 cd games and even more with cd-r back ups (especially with cheap cd-r discs). so your pretty much decreasing the ps2 laser life-span by running psx back ups on that console.
ahh this is just my opinion.
