is silent hill 3 usa a double check game

i have a copy of silent hill 3 us version on a dvd-rw with a version 7 ps2 with a magic 3.1, now ive heard many people say that it has double check protection. if thats the case how come i can play it on my v7 ps2 with a magic 3.1--can ne1 verify whether it really has double check protection

im pretty sure it isn't a double check game, as far as i know, splinter cell is the only game that double checks

Does double check means it runs a check AGAIN after the chip boots the game?

well, like with splinter cell, i think after each level or save it checks the media and this is where the magic3.1 has the RSOD problem. DMS3 and Messiah2 overcome this problem I think, I don't know because I don't have a DVD-R Copy of splinter cell to test on my DMS3 v7

My backup and original will boot on my v7 DMS3 2.0 w/ 1.6c firmware. Ive heard that alot of people cant even play the original with the chip on. But my friend has a magic 3.6 and it plays it too.
