Should I upgrade?

Okay...I know I NEED a new chip...this neo 2.2 is a pain in the butt! I'm tired of swapping discs and trying 3 different ways to try and get a game to work, not to mention using GS2 codes on an original game flat out doesn't work. I'm sick of my friends with No-Swap chips saying "well that one works on MY system".

So here's my question to all you guys and gals that've been in the trenches longer than I have...I have an old V2 ps2 (according to the guy who installed my my Neo chip). At the time Neo 2.2 was all that would work on it...now with Messiahs and Magics it seems I may have a new hope. I just want a good, reliable no-swap chip. So which should I go with? Also, anybody know any HONEST installers in MI, in the Detroit area??? I don't have steady enough hands to do it myself, nor do I trust my Polish self with my one possession I'd kill over! hahaha

Keep in mind, I haven't ever opened my OWN PS2 and looked at it, so I couldn't tell ya what Bios I have. I can get you any of the numbers from the back though.

I'm the software support type guy...give me a soldiering iron and I don't know what to do. Give me a keyboard and mouse and I can make magic happen!

Get the Messiah2 or Magic3 they are great chips for your v2. You might have a 010 bios. I hope this helps.

The Messiah 2 will support both versions of the v2, so don't worry.

Thanks gang, I was a bit up in the air as to what to do. Of course, given more $$$ I'd just go out and buy a new PS2, then have that modded as well. LOL...like I have the cash to that. I'm just an average poor white middle class working schmoe with a wife and kids to feed. So...next step for me is find the best price on a Messiah 2, then somebody nearby that can install it for me.
