Should I sell my NTSC PS2 and buy a PAL PS2? –

Hello everyone I live in the USA right now and I have a v7 PS2. I will be moving to Italy in august and I wanted to know if I should bring my NTSC PS2 over there or if i should just sell it and buy a PAL version when I get there. I'd rather not sell it, so if anyone knows what I have to do to make it work please tell me!!
Thanks

not sure about italy
but generally u will need a power converter (np widely available, fairly cheap
most euro (pal) tv will display usa(ntsc) without any problems,if it doesnt u can apply the ntsc to pal connection inside the ps2
u wont be able to play pal dvd on your ntsc ps2 (not possible)

don't do it if you r moving there get a multisystem tv and you r set
i was station in spain for 4 years and that is what i did and multisystem tv's are a lot better that ntsc tv's, better resolution plus dual voltage and some other xtras

I don't think the power will be a big problem... An adapter can fix this...
The main problem is the NTSC - PAL Dispute and whether the television will have the ability to output an NTSC signal...
Try setting the PS2 up as nornal first (with the Power adapter) and seeing if it works... Most new televisions should not have a problem outputting a NTSC signal.
IF not...
Does your machine have a Mod chip?
If your machine doesn't have a Mod chip installed I would get a mod installed (either Messiah 2 as it seems the most stable at this time - or DMS 3 Ver 2.0 as it would make the DVD multi region) and ask for the colour to be fix moved over to GND so all the games were output in PAL instead of NTSC...
If your good with a soldering iron you could do the colour fix your self (But I would not advise it)
I would definately keep your NTSC PS2 and work your way around it there are many ways to solve the problem...

I have heard of it but I have also heard that it does not work... The only solution that I heard works is an original copy of the DVD multi region disk as the copys are detected...

I don't have a mod chip yet cuz I didnt wanna put one if I was then gonna sell my ps2. So I guess I will be buying one so that I can play all the pal games from over there. But where can I buy the power converters? And I can't play pal DVD's?

Basically any TV you buy these days in Europe supports NTSC. If you want to be sure just get a Sony TV. Moving all your hardware to Italy is overkill since you would need 'power convertors' for all of them since we use 220-240 volts here. From what I heard the USA driver (DVD) can't do PAL DVDs nomatter what you do. I know this is the case with my old JAP 10000 series PS2. When I looked at the driver itself (decrypted form) it seems to be a multi-purpose driver for USA/PAL and JAP regions with just a 'config' file of some kind so you might get lucky.
Grtzzz Roel...
