is there any mod that can handle the new ps2 BIOS with "random checks" found in scph-39006 (Hong Kong)?

"...works with all ps2 on the market..."

The info I got from a reliable source is that this BIOS send a signal like any old BIOS, but also count timing and send additional signal, all in a random fashion.

I don't have any scph-39006 for the moment. Will try to provide pics later. However, the wiring does not differ from previous V7, only the BIOS.

    ....sure, if you decrypt it...?

the demand for ps2's is up in HK due to Chinese New year (1st Feb) and so is the unit price. usa and pal models are all sold out and the HK shops can only get the new SCPH-39006 where mods don't work.

here is the "death list" i got confirmed so far:

    Magic3.1
    Magic3
    NH3
    Bluechip

i wonder when this BIOS shows up in the usa and euro ps2's....

I can send you a (gratis) Messiah 2 to try if you wish. if it doesn't work would you be prepared to ship the unit to the Uk in return for a number of Messiah 2 pros that will work on this model?

Please e-mail me as per my signature.

Thank you for the offer but I have little time to spare right now. I think it is easier and faster if you make a deal directly with any Hong Kong shop to send you a scph-39006 (HK) for testing. They will probably be most helpful considering the current situation.

SCPH 39006, Board type V7, Bios 080, Tested with Magic 3.1 results all media boot perfectly even for DVD9 (xenosaga,gt3 hk).
Have a trouble on booting DVDR, some don't work (maybe laser reading problem).

Really? I went to Golden last weekend & ppl are quoting $14xx & $16xx for NTSC U/C & 39006 respectively (modded already).
NTSC U/C (modded) are also selling for $16xx in some small toy shops in Wanchai/Causeway Bay. So no price increase.
    The retail for non-modded 39006 is $1580.
