SCPH-15000 Modding for US Games and DVD

Hi -

I just got an SCPH-15000 from a family member in Bali. I want to use it primarily to play both original and backup copies of US PS2 games, as well as Original US DVD's.

What is the best option (or options) for modding this system. I could go with sodering or a no soder chip, not really a problem. I'm also wondering about the USB mods and if they work with this system.

I really appreciate any help that someone could provide...possible someone with the same system? I need to make the decision whether I should spend the money to mod the PS2 to have a DVD player or if I should spend that money instead on buying a DVD player.

Well...you need to make a decision as to what is imre important, get a DVE DVD functions are more important, get a DVD player. If you like the convenience of having both, then I would suggest you get a DMS3....as you'll be able to play your games + get the DVD capabilities.

However, you need to reflash your DMS3 to a 1.1 BIOS in order to get it to work properly for now. The 1.3 BIOS that comes on the recent chips don't function properly for the 10000/15000 models. I do have word that the DMS team are working on a new BIOS to fix this problem, but there is no ETA at the moment.

Another alternative is to get the Messiah 2, but you lose the capabilities to watch DVDs. Again...that's a choice you'll need to make on your own.

Can you tell me more about reflashing? What does this require, both in terms of labor and cost?

Messiah 2 CAN Play Those DVDs, you'd just have to get it bundled with AR2, PAR2, or DVD Region X whichever one would fit your system. (All Do)

DMS3 Team has released the v1.6C bios for their modchip. It is recommended for you because you have a 15000 model and it has the bugs fixed for this model. You will need to reflash the dms3 in order to work. I hope this helps for you.
