I just lifted the yellow piece beside the SCEX point, what is it? Where can I find a replacement.

The SCEX point is between a black resistor and a capacitor.

You can connect to either and or both.

Did you damage the capacitor (yellow piece)?

if not - just solder it back on.

If you did damage it - there is a small chance that the cap was just a filtering cap... but unlikely in this location... if it was a filtering cap I would suggest that you could possibly get away with replacing it with say a 0.1uF cap.

Have you tried the station without the cap in place?

It may still work ok - unless the cap was used for timing or wave shaping...

I've tried with and without the chip and all I got was the original games to work, none of the backup or DVDR worked. So I can replace the yellow capacitor with a 0.1uF cap? can I get that at Radio Shack?

Or you did a bad install, or you killied a little important thing, but I think the machine should work still fine if the mod was installed correctly!

Nope, wouldn't read any disc with the chip installed, I've already checked many times, is not the install.

the cap is used to inject the scex signal just solder nearest to the iop the chip supplys its own scex signal so the cap missing does not cause any change in the ps2´s performance games not working is 100% a problem somewhere else and not caused by the cap.

can someone help me identify the alternative points for SCEX that i can use on this diagram? http://www.china-magic.com/magic5/di...MAGIC_V_V7.jpg

i have board which the current SCEX point on this diagram no longer exist so i can't solder it ... can i use a side of that 104 or 225 component?

the point does not exist but the copper under it will solder direct to this to supply the scex signal.

well I think I might have posted this sort of thing before - but as I said you can solder to either the cap or the resistor as they are directly linked by a track.

    see attached.
