Hi,
I am having a problem booting PS2 DVD-R or CD-r and I was wondering if it would be due to the S point? Ps1 CD-R work. All originals work. WHat could be the problem? Its a V5 PS2. Checked W, A-I and no problems all get contnuity.
Thanks

See my Troublehooting guide in the FAQ forum section.
I have the Magic 3 modchip. WHy would it be A? My A point is on really good and checked continuity. I switched W to W1 and still no go. I am using Memorex Red DVD-R bottoms is that the reason? I hear a clicking spin up but still doesnt explain why CD-R's wont boot. I am using Memorex White tops, Silver TDK, Silver Generics, and Imations still not good.
Thanks
P.S. Charlie your Tutorial is Nice but couldn't explain why the PS2 wont boot DVD-R backups. Called COnsole SOurce and they say they test all magic 3's before they sell them. How do they? THey are BS me

illuzionz,
Your post says CD-R and DVD-R so that's covered in my Troubleshooting Guide. It's likely to be a mis-install; possibly solder balls behind those small legs. Needs 10x magnfiying glasee to find; or your ribbon cables are not properly installed or damaged. It's highly likely to be one of the usual suspects.
