Romeo mod on PS2 v9 not working
Romeo mod on PS2 v9 not working –
Does anybody have a pic or something showing an alternative 5v source for the Romeo mod for a PS2 v9? I modded my v9 with a DMS3 with no problem at all, but when I tried the Romeo mod games would play for about 5 minutes then the whole PS2 would lock up.
There was a thought that I might have lifted the pin17 a little too high and it was touching the heat sink cover and grounding out. I need to play with it but I also wanted to try another 5v point.
When I did this mod, I made sure that nothing is bridged and that pin17 was lifted and no longer connected to the 12v source.
Any help would be grateful. Thanks.
I've done what you described... lifting pin 17 too high. What happens is the power board's 125V 3.15A fuse blows... not what you described.
Here is the link to the alternates. Say thanks to ShadowKnyght when you see him.

Oshawa modder... up there in Canada.
mike, those are V10s points. Does the V9 look the same?
Thanks mike, but there are three pictures on that website. The first shows the v9 board and that's how I setup mine. The other two pics are for v10 boards. I'll have to see if they can relate back to the v9 but they do look different to me.
I'm going to attempt the romeo mod again this week and I'll post my results.
Apparently, a modded v9 or v10 without the romeo mod is a ticking timebomb just waiting to blow up the laser.
