I always do it this way, just make sure you have cut the track properly tho, it can be a bit of a bitch!

Lifting the pin 17 is much easier and reversable.
This is also reversable and you cannot bridge the legs, cannot short the disconnected leg to the metal cover and best of all, you cannot break the leg. (there are many that did it) So this is a good alternative solution, if you can do the cutting perfectly, otherwise the short kills your PS2. All ps2 50x needs it.
It seems the GH-029 boards dont support it so only GH-023, and GH-026 boards. You can tell when you open it up.
