Sorry if I shouldn't post here about the Ripper, inform me of the appropriate forum if so?

I finally opened up my v10 50004a PS2 and discovered a chip which I believe is not an original Infinity v1.21, as displayed upon power up.

Could anyone let me know if I can use the Ripper FW upgrade on this chip.

Please see the attached jpg of the chip housed in my console if in doubt.

That is an Original Ripper chip.

But it could be anything from a Ripper3 to a Ripper3.2U.

The only thing you can do is try the Ripper Software on it and if it does not upgrade then its an older version than the V3.2U.

Just read your post again, and you have a Ripper3 which cannot be upgraded at all.

    Sorry.

It's with some regret that I learn the sad truth about the installed chip on my PS2.

As a last resort, I wanted to post this http://www.ripper3.com/diagrams/r32u.jpg

As you can see from the URL this comes from the Ripper site.

Does this mean I follow those instructions and I should be able to upgrade?

The biggest problem is I am unable to find the Ripper email address or I would contact them directly. They do have an email but it's for resellers or something like that.

Thanks for your continued help and attention.
I do appreciate those helping me as a lot of this rather new to me, the last few days have a been somewhat of a crash course on modchips.

No, you won't be able to upgrade.
See the part of the image that says "Only these chips are updatable via CD" ?
You don't have this chip, so you're stuck I think

Only the ripper3 with a white dot on the actel chip can be updated.
But I really don't see why you would need an update.
