Hi just been reading on gamefreax, and they have some pretty nice news, seems that the scene is still alive and kicking !!!![]()
It's quite "strange" (bah, let's say unfortunate) that anything comes out from any group, soon there is something totally similar from groups like the Ripper team for example... Is this the "scene" you were refering to ? Bah, don't get me wrong, it's BUSSINES and something else, I don't wanna name here. Also, have you ever seen anything similar on the Xbox scene ?? I do not think so. That is why so many people think this is NOT a scene, but it's bussines you all know well. Good to know that Gamefreax still keep posting things, as they were always good in selling clones/rips, no surprise they mention this "magic" thing first, I wish it's only a PAL mod and none will give it a ****, for the same price much better mods can be bought. O2 is another thing, but well the guys in the Ripper team should now come up with something REALLY unique... up till now there was nothing but a dms clone, with a few limitations, would be great to see something really NEW, but I am afraid there won't be any.

I was suprised to see it posted as news here too.
I was under the impression that most of the ripper stuff were clones and rips, if not all of it. IIRC, the Ripper 2 Gold was almost completely identical to the DMS3, down to the software "manager".
Shure, but the limitations you are mentioning are "if youre asking me" some nice features which gave the quality of a dms 3 with a much easier installation, and let's not talk about groundbounce or price !!Originally Posted by uns97
Who has been reporting some of results from the V9 dead syndrome ??? Nobody only the ripper team did it....the rest dindn't seem to care at all.
So my conclusion is that the ripper team has a pretty good mod that just work great nothing more nothing less....
Just to bitch something now: well, none give them the screen fix for PSX mode sure as now the ice code contains that they will "develop" that too. Ripper's price ? Was that so low compared to DMS3 ? I never realised that. *at least not here, but examining some online dealers, it's again not the case, they sell it at almost DMS price*
The report about the V9 dead syndrome is ok, as I repeated it about one million times, it's really so great that SOMEONE who would like to develop mods and earn some cash take the time and do his homework. No other group did it, right, so credit is theirs, I agree.
Installation problems: there are so many people who failed to install the Ripper, I also had a batch of dead chips, that worked for some minutes but not any longer. 4 out of 5 chips were DOA, and this has never happened to DMS or the original Matrix. The DMS ground bounce "problem" as so many complain about that. If you have the proper tools, wires and soldering skills there is NO such a problem. I had not realised anything like groundbounce when I installed DMS for the first time, though my soldering skill was never as expert as many others poeples' here.
To sum this all up: I do not say that Ripper Team is the worst thing on the "scene", as it would not be true. But to die for their product(s) is just not worth it. As many other people also noticed they developed quite a few unique things, their products were always similar (VERY similar) to some others. For people who would like to spend 10 bucks less for a not so perfect mod, ok go for the Ripper, I'd prefer the more reliable products like DMS3 for example.

pS: oops one thing that I almost forgot: from their *Ripper team* web site:
"Less wires to the laser controller = longer laser life!" Now tell me, does the mod affect the laser (plus the controller) or NOT ? As everyone has said NO up till now, and now what I am reading is something totally opposite. There is something similar on the Matrix web page aswell. Then what do mods cause to the laser ??? Quite strange, but that's it, B U S S I N E S. We advertise something "very special" *it's safe, cool and even does your housework* BUT in the end we mention that mods have nothing to do with the laser or the PS2 itself. Great combination, isn't it ? And who are saying these ??? Not me that's sure.![]()

The price issue is something that you should have compared 6 months ago, the latest month prices of mods have been reduced big time...Originally Posted by uns97
The unique thing bout the ripper was the 17 or 18 wire install and you know what?? Many people where against it and where saying that this qouldn't be good, but now even the dms team seems to be coming up with this "NEW" feature in there next mod![]()
I like the the DMS as much as anybody else, but i cannot say that the ripper isn't worth the money...
Yes the RIPPER 2 was more expensive than most mods, but no were near as expensiveRipper's price ? Was that so low compared to DMS3 ? I never realised that. *at least not here, but examining some online dealers, it's again not the case, they sell it at almost DMS price*
as the DMS3.
The reason other suppliers sell them at a higher price is because they can and they
want to mke some $$$.
Right now, my DMS3 go for $42 usd each, and my RIPPER 2 go for $30.
Remember most people sell there DMS3 for $45 usd.
Well we can actually now say the same about the DMS3 which is not the number 1For people who would like to spend 10 bucks less for a not so perfect mod, ok go for the Ripper, I'd prefer the more reliable products like DMS3 for example.
modchip on the PS2 scene anymore. Why pay $5 more for a less
than perfect mod when the MATRIX INFINITY is here??? Its crystal clear that the
MATRIX INFINITY is a better and cheaper modchip than the DMS3.
Wright you are,the infinity is now the best mod to get, with the best features..all that for a good price.Originally Posted by 9HOMERSIMPSON9
Here the Ripper costed some bucks less than the DMS3. Comparing that the later is a full PAL/NTSC solution while the first is just for PAL, it was not a question which one to go for. Ripper is worth the money for those who can accept its limitations, but ONE silly thing like screen fix for example is enough for me to invest MORE, just to watch the PS1 games not shifted. Also, the wire number does not matter really, you can reduce it to zero and still cannot save it from affecting the PS2 laser (see my last post). The booting process with pushing controller buttons + reset button together was also annoying of Ripper2, and I have not seen a half of the firmwares from them that DMS3 offers anyway. I am sure their name was not censored just because it looked cool, and well they have showed nothing since their V9+V10 dead report. Of course if you and others like it, I am not against that, but I am sure there are more people who respect DMS rather than the ones who respect the Ripper. *especially the NTSC guys who cannot be that happy about how cheap is a Ripper*...

There is no point and sitting here and attacking the RIPPER modchips.
Yes there was some flaws with the past one's, but hell nearly
every modchip has some flaws.
Im sure ALOT will be fixed in the RIPPER 3 modchip release.
Im sure before its released, i should be able to get a test unit,
and i will give it a good looking over.
And deliver a good solid review off it. But no-one knows when its
going to be released yet. Im still waiting on my email reply.
Im sure this will end up alot better than the other Rippers.
