Are Ricohs good?

I got DVD+RWs from Office Depot. I used DVD Identifier to find out the real manufacturer, and they came out to be Ricoh.

I thought Ricoh was a good company. Isn't it Japanese?

I have the F wire soldiered, but it still won't read any of the discs. I haven't tried a different brand yet.

So is Ricoh crap?

I dont think Ricoh is crap... but a lot of people here definately dont use them. Most of them pick up Riteks or the sort. Stay away from Princo. Do you have another brand of DVD-RW you could try and if they boot, then I geuss the Ricohs werent meant for the PS2.

Princo and other princo clones.
Bulpaq same die as princo and ohters princo clones there is.. (shit media)

I've used Ricoh media before and they are decent. I'd use DVD-R media, instead of the RW media. The DVD-R media are pretty cheap these days. Some older consoles seem to be more picky with the RW and +R media.
