Resistor missing! Can I jumper it?

I can't believe it. I haven't done this since my first xbox mod. I broke off the resistors on the daughter board. Not that big of a deal. I was a noob and was able to jumper them just fine. Now it happened on this ps2 v3. I've done a few ps2's and only 1 v3 before and they are a pain. I finished and noticed on the drawing that a resistor is missing!!! I couldn't believe it. How could I have been so carless. Or was it broken before and I didn't notice it. Anyway how can I fix this. Will a jumper wire work or is that a really bad idea. It is the the little brown resistor right off of the 3.3v solderpoint (to the right of it). I have a junk xbox board lying around that I strip of parts when I need them. I assume it has the same part but how can I tell which one i need? Help would greatly be apperciated. I uploaded that attachment and the red circle is the resistor missing. Thanks all

looks more like a cap to me
if this is the case DONT jumper it
ps2 stands good chance of working without it( no garauntees)

edit a simple test
test the two pionts of the missing component with your meter , check for continuity 1 to 3.3v and 1 to ground, if correct its a cap for sure

I just tested the ps2 and it boots fine. Didn't boot my ps2 game but that could be the chip install. I haven't rechecked anything yet. I will check those two points tomarrow. I know 1 of them is connected to the 3.3v I will check the other with the ground.

How could a ps2 work without one of it's original components? why would sony put it there? =/

Yah believe me when you knock a component off the PS2 WILL not function quite the same. I knocked a cap off of a V3 once and it'd boot every type of game on any kind of media with the exception of original imports. And it definitely wasn't my install either.

And now I'm trying to fix a botched install from a customer and no matter what I do it keeps spinning DVD media at lightspeed while it plays CDs just fine.

The brown thing is definately a cap. Dont short it!!

Unfortunately I don't have a clue what the value is

Most caps are there to "stabilize" the signals. If it is between +3.3V and ground it's purpose is to absorbe voltage spikes. Usually it doesn't matter very much if one is missing.

That is what a cap does. It regulates voltage. It absorbs any spikes and keeps it constant when it dips. The ps2 did boot up fine and everything seems ok. Except not reading ps2 dvd games (DRE) but then Im looking at it possibly being the drive it self(I myself was shocked to get a v3. most of these have been laid to rest already). Ohming it out has found that it is a cap (one side voltage while the other is ground). However it doesn't read my burned discs (probally and install problem now). This sucks having many problems at the same time. I will get to the bottom oof this. I haven't done a faulty install yet on any systems and this sure as hell isn't the first. Thanks for the info all and keep it coming with ideas. Think I should just try and taking one off of the xbox board? How much can it really hurt?
