Requesting help with removal of V1/V2 mainboard
Requesting help with removal of V1/V2 mainboard –

I would like to get familiar with the process of removing the mainboard before I actually do so. This way I lower the risk of messing up. I'm trying to remove the mainboard because I need to get to the origonal Scex and CLK points. I know the process of removing the power supply so no need to explain that. Although I'm not sure if I have to desolder the 4 big pins BEFORE I remove the mainboard out of the PS2 or I can do it after. Anyway here are the starting steps:
1) I take off the bottom plastic casing part of the PS2
2) Take off the metal shield
3) Remove expansion bay cage
4) Unscrew mainboard
5) Disconnect Mainboard cables, including fan plug
6) What now?
Do I just lift the mainboard, or is there something else I need to do before that? From what I'm seeing the other side of the mainboard has some hefty metal pieces connected to it, like heatsinks and other metalic objects. Are these actually attached to the mainboard, or is the mainboard actually sitting on these? Well the main part I'm concerned about is the actual process of taking out the mainboard so I can have access to both sides. Could someone please explain this process?
Also if it's not too much trouble, could someone give me some tips on removing those flat cables connected to the mainboard. I heard many of you broke them by accident. The orange one seems pretty easy, just lift it. OK thanks amigos

If it's not too much trouble, a quick scan through the past thread subjects in this forum or the use of the Search feature would have led you directly to a post by LOD (ps2newz's professional installer extrodinaire) answering that same question.
80-90% of what folks post a question asking has already been answered here in one form or another, if they'd just take a little time...

Actually you'd be suprised at how much reading I've done. I'm starting to feel I got no social life haha
. Most of the posts ask how to take the 2 boards apart, but I'm asking how to take them OUT from the PS2 casing. Well maybe I searched with the wrong words, I'll search some more but more help couldn't hurt
