hey guys... could i ask your opinion... about this replacement ps2 lens...

i know there is someone who are expert in this field... thanks in advance...

i bought a new Replacement PS2 lens... i don't know if it is a REFURBISHED or RE-CONDITION only... but one thing is its work flawlessly on any titles i throw with my PS2... DVD movies... DVD games (orig/backup)... PS1 (orig/backup)... works great as if it is ORIGINAL PS2 Lens...

but when i check the RESISTANCE of DVD-pot and CD-pot... you would not believe with the result...

    DVD-POT = 511 ohms
    CD-POT = 615 ohms

man... i downloaded a guide... a complete guide of PS2 lens maintenance and repair... saying you should not go down 600 ohms to not destroy you lens... but this one... work perfect...

any opinion is very much appreciated... thanks...

    thanks netmech...

but with a friend suggestion... we did adjust it to 900 ohms... both dvd-pot and cd-pot... it still work great...

do you think it will last longer this way or it is all the same... just like you said... die soon... and won't boot at all...???

    thanks a lot...

if it still reads fine at the higher settings then it should be fine for as long as any laser in a PS2 stays fine.

you are lucky you discovered this before it was to late!

What version PS2 was it - older ones can actually be factory set to as low as 600 and 800 ohms - the V9's are usually 1400 and 1400... same lasers but different powering techniques!

oooppsss.... sorry to not mention the version...

my PS2 is V7... NTSC... 39001... my laser lens is 400C... it just died instantly while playing ARC the LAD... won't boot anymore... even adjusting the lens... and reducing the resistance of the DVDpot... but CDs are great... load perfectly... so i didn't throw it yet... then bought a replacement... 400C also... but as i said the resistance is very low... but work perfectly... for three days before i check the resistance...

so shadowknight... can you clearly explain what you said... some older PS2 lens configure as this low...???

thanks... i want to know cuz LENS is very expensive here in my country... you know what i mean... and i want to extend its life at least a year before i buy another one...

    thanks a lot...
