red screen

ive got a problem-i have a ps2 with magic 3.1 inside
it worked fine-well sometimes i had to reset twice because i will get a black screen or red screen sometimes but now i had to reset about 5 times cause i got a red screen that says i need to insert a ps2 compatible disk it happened when i tried playing 2 original dvd games
what can be the problem?>

That is what you get for getting a magic chip. They are notorious have needing multiple resets to get a game to load. Would have been better off with a Messiah 2.

the question is how do i know if its the chip or its the laser??

If I were a bettin man I would put all my money on the chip being your problem.

if it happens while playing originals too then try playing them with the chip off. that will isolate the problem.

backups are harder for the laser to read then originals.
