Red / Green Blinking....
Red / Green Blinking.... –
I have a broken PS2. When I turn on the switch in the back, it starts in Standby mode (Red Light) and after a couple of seconds everything stops and the red light starts blinking red/green/red/green etc... If I turn the PS2 on with the button in the front before the blinking it will work for a couple of seconds, the fan will start in the back and after it comes back to the blinking again and the fan in the back stops.
What could it be? Power supply? Microprocessor that is busted?
What does it mean?
You need to give more details. Did you try and mod it? With what? When did it start doing this? Have you checked your reset/eject cables? Usually the blinking red indicates some sort of overhaeting but the symptoms aren't consistant with that.
well it started to do that by it self. there is no mod and no mod attempts. the power supply blew up before i bought it. the board letteraly blew up. it was fixed. i think the thing is a broken peace in the power supply, but i need the diagrams and the resistor values and stuff. for the cable, i tested it and its ok.
This is usually major stuff and one of the sad facts of buying a used PS2 - there is always a reason for the first owner wanting to be rid of it. if it's unmodded then Sony will replace it for a fee.
Your ps2 is using its emergency shut down feature. This is usually caused by it overheating or not getting enough ventilation. You remember how the old psx had an overheating problem where it would eventually fry itself. Well sony implemented a protection procedure in the ps2 that will make it show the symptoms that you see if it reaches a certain temperature in order to avoid frying any components. Open the ps2 and make sure the chassis is touching the board and the fan is blowing the right way.
