  1. #1 A really small part of my PS2 mobo came off, PLEASE HELP!
    Cheezy Guest
When I was installing the DMS3 into my V3 PS2 with Gap-bios everything went smoothly. But suddenly when I looked at the mainboard and I saw something very very small, and it wasn't attached to something. When I tried to get it, it got lost. I made a photo of the spot where it was used to stick and posted it here as an attachment.
It is simillar to this picture on the dms3 site (http://www.dms3.com/diagrams/dms3_v3...s3_v3_scex.jpg) but only without the peace I am missing.

When I try to boot the PS2 now, It boots fine, only the cd/dvd-drive spins like crazy when it tries to load a disc and doesn't load it because of that.
Also the spinning light bulbs you see when you boot a PS2, go A LOT faster than normal and stop after a while.

    ---

Can somebody PLEASE tell me exactly what part of the mainboard I am missing? So I can get a replacement part somwhere. Or may be get it off another electrical device (like an old modem for instance) ?

shouldn't effect the cd/dvd drive, it's just a resistor in the SCEX line, it would really only affect ps1 games, and now that you have a chip to inject ps1 signal you don't """need""" the original signal unless you're playing an antimod US ps1 game, which isn't too likely....are you sure there are no dvd controller wires touching, those v3's are hard to tell?

  3. #3 Resistor values

Do you know the value of the resistor? Then i might be able to find a replacement. How do you know that it shouldn't affect my PS2's functionality?
    Thanks in advance

Do you know the value of the resistor?
The component in question is a capacitor and not a resistor.
The value of that cap is 5.6nF or 0.0056uF.
You can tack in a disk ceramic cap if you can't get the same value in surfacemount. The disk ceramic will be a bit bulky, but you should be able to fit it ok.
Having that cap missing shouldn't cause your drive to spin its brains out. You must have something else wrong.

You really have done something else wrong. I got a PS-one woth a resistor missing, it still worked well . But the Spinning is maybe a problem of the power wire, maybe just do your install completely again and try doing games again

    regards, Martijn

I am quite sure it still booted before it came off, but you are all sure the problem is somewhere else. Well I think I will try to redo the install then.
