The PS2 I modded doesn't output video correctly while using component cables, but it works fine with composite/RCA/Auxillary (whatever you want to call them). I never tested it before I modded it, so I don't know if it was like this before I put the chip in. The chip is a Magic 3.1+. I was wondering if maybe it's the chip's BIOS that can't handle componnent output for some reason. Or, I may have torn a trace, or it could have been like this before I put the chip in. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Forgot to say why it doesn't output correctly. It shows the screen all wavy and slanted to the right, with a pink overlay (tint) on the entire screen. I tested my component cable with another kid's PS2, and it worked fine.

You might try to disable the chip. I think with the magic 3 you can do this by holding reset (from standby) until you see the "sony entertainment" screen come up. then just pop in your original. The chip should stay disabled until the PS2 is put in standby again.

First things first..make sure in the PS2 setup that it is not set to RGB. This will screw everything up. If it is not set to RGB and still looks like that, your modchip is forcing the PS2 to output in RGB mode. This is totally worthless for anyone living in North America or anywhere else that uses NTSC, and I'm not quite sure why more chips don't have an option for completely disabling it.

Like norcal said, try booting with the chip off.
