questions on magic 50k chip

my v9 ps2 with magic 50k chip died... so i bought a new v10 will my magic 50k chip work in it? and if it doesnt is there a chip out there that will allow me to play pal games on my ntsc tv? ..i read some where that there was a chip that converted it already... and what chip do you guys recommend

Well...as far as I know...it should work the same. If you're talking about the DMS...yeah, it'll do it, but there are a lot of unstability issues with it.

so the magic 50k chip well work in my v10 ps2? and as far as the dms they are unstable? and also my v7 ps2 just did something funny... i booted a backup and all i got was a blank screen then after a few resets game come on and is working fine any ideas on that?

A small correction... the 50K will NOT work in the V10. It is strictly a V9 chip. On the other hand, the 5K6 will work in both, though originally designed for the V10 only.

As for the V7 issue... sounds like it could be a dying laser or scratched disc. Still, I'd lay money on a bad solder connection. Either just loose, or a high-resistance solder... ie, a dry solder. I'd pull out the iron and touch up the points on the bios chip.

ok it has done this every time i turn the ps2 off.... when i hit reset nothing just black screen... if i keep taping reset it will finally boot and play np it does it with all games, originals also .. i will try going over it again

u need to fix y and/or r and w on the chip they are quite sensitive

magic chip is very stable in v9 v10 no problems in my 3year experience.
