OK, let?s say you have a dirty original copy of GTA3 and somewhere along in the game it says "error reading GTA3 Disk", so you take it out clean it and put the game back in and it loads up fine. Well I have the old blue version of the magic 2 and with backups/imports you can't do this because whenever the copy is ejected and inserted again it will not boot due to the fact that the magic 2 only emits the scex code at start up which I think is also a link to the old gameshark problem. Anyway I think that by emitting the scex signal every time a disk is inserted is how the new brown/red versions of the magic 2 have managed to overcome the gameshark problem. So I ask you, can you eject a backup/import during game play and insert it again and the game continues as normal with the brown/red magic 2's?

I booted up JAP GT3 original in an NTSC US v7 PS2 fitted with the brown Magic 2. Then the disk was ejected, "cleaned", and replaced with the EJECT button. Of course, the thing froze and stayed frozen. We had to reboot in the normal Messiah/Magic 2 way.

mjjjad, I too have the same problem, not to mention using a backup, when I choose start without codes in the GS menu, and swap the disc, I didn't put the DVD game, but I putted the GS original blue disc again, and load with it, it was supposed to boot, since the disc was the GS original disc, but it don't
So I assume that as long as the eject button wasn't pressed after the reset button was pressed, it worked fine
My question is why sometimes the GS work with some games, like dark cloud, ffx, mgsII, twisted metal black, and I noticed that this events happen only when the dvd didn't stop spinning after I swap the disc

Hmm...I didn't even know the GS worked with any backup games unless you had one of the new model magic 2's. However I don't have that problem you're having with your GS. I have an original copy of v1.3 which normally won?t work on a V5 however the magic 2 allows the ps2 to see it as an original. When I select with or without codes in the GS menu I can eject the disk and insert another one and it will boot, as long as it is an original, this includes the 1.3 GS. However if I insert a copy when it ask me to swap disk it will just stay there frozen and you can hear the drive stop spinning because the ps2 knows it's a copy.
