I use a 11watt, 0,5mm iron. Its ideal for all versions except V3s and V9 if you intent to solder directly on the CD/DVD controler IC (recomented). For that I would prefer a 0,3mm.

I think 0,1mm tip is way too small for most jobs. It cant transfer enough heat to the solder...

    0.4mm here!

0.2mm is nice but anything smaller than 0.3 and you loose heat very quickly from the tip.

But I must say a 0.2mm tip would be nice when working with chip legs.

I have the Goot soldering pencil as shown on shadow's page, it's 13w and with 0.2mm tip. I have found that it does lose heat very quickly, and sometimes i have troubles melting "larger" blobs of solder?.. is there something wrong with the tip/iron? I follow the process of keeping the tip tinned, but it still has troubles?..

I like .38 and .8 mm best (1/64 and 1/32). I use a hotter iron as well on the larger joins like power and ground.
