Okay i 'm really confused on which chip is supposed to work for my ps2. Here is my Setup:
    SCPH 30001 R, u0 (V4), 1 c date code, Bios Chip- CXD2942BR 040, no gap.
Would a Magic 2 v4 chip work? I already tryed to install a R chip but it didnt work out for me. What about the v7 chip would that work too? Let me know whats the best chip for my setup. Modchip.ca is giving me the ****in runaround and i'm pissed, no chip in 2 months

The v4 chip is for the 030 BIOS.
The "R" chip is for the 040 BIOS.
The V7 chip is for the 050 BIOS.

You didn't say what your failure symptoms were for the "R" chip so I can't be of diagnosis assistance.

I am not 100% on this, but I could have bet money that you needed the v7 Magic chip for the datecode 1c systems. But I have been wrong before. Just once though. haha.

depends which v7 one, if it's one of the v7s that work with v5 and v6 then it'd work, but other wise you need a v5 one for the datecode 1c

1C is V5 bios . so just as gazdaman said it is better to just order a V5 chip.. the lik-sang clones work with the 1C fine.. I have tested.
