Question about modbo wiring..
For wire sizes, the smaller the number, the larger the wire (always seemed backwards to me). So if the instructions called for 30 awg and you got 24 awg, your wires are thicker than whats called for and that's a good thing. The wires I've used super skinny, 30 awg I think, and I've never had any problems with them. Of course, I've only done about 10 modchips so if someone with more experience says something different listen to them. I would use thicker wires for power and ground, I assume they carry more current than any of the other wires. Nothing wrong with doubling up on power and ground, but it might be easier just to find a small piece of thicker wire.
If this is your first modchip install, be sure to tin your wires and contacts before you solder. Don't use too much solder or too much heat on delicate componets. (I once melted away a resistor on my nephews PS2). Inspect carefully for solder bridges once your done.
24 awg is fine for the GND and power points, along with everything else
and yes id get the laser fix if the modbo comes with it
Post the mo-bo number please.
Alright, so I got all this done.. Decided not to risk it and got the 30 awg kynar wire. Using a modbo 4.0 and v13 console "70001" everything is up and running but I'm unable to play backups? Whats this all about. Checked all my wires and nothing. A lot of the old pictures have been removed and its extremely difficult to find reliable info. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Matrix logo shows up
I can get into the matrix menu
ps2 and ps1 games work
no backups work..
I dont get a red screen either. Doesnt see the disc at all. Says No data.
Wish I could eugene, but no camera. Went ahead and reburned a few ps2 games and a ps1 game too. I'll give those a try when I get home tonight. If that doesn't work Ill try to go over points IGHB again and see if that helps. I have a diagram with alternative IGHB points so after I check them I'll be attempting the new points. After reading crap ton of posts it really sounds like its a wiring problem. And those points are the usual suspects for no back ups.
If anyone has some v13 / 70001 - modbo 4.0 diagrams that are different or maybe some pics of this particular board with modbo installed that would be awesome. A lot of the info I'm finding is outdated or dead links.
Thanks for the reply's, I'll update my findings later tonight
So, burnt new games using alcohol 120 at 4x.. They don't work
Cant get ps1 backups to work either..
re-soldered my i g h b points still no luck..
Last 2 things to try: New dvd-R's / CD-RS
Rewire the whole thing..
