Hi! My English is bad but I will try to explain my question.

I wonder if I installed a Magic 3/3.1 in a Japan PS2 v4/v5/v6/v7 (Maybe 10000 & 15000 & 18000). After moded will it still in Japanese style? Japanese style mean that all the Japan PS2 use "circle button for enter" and "X button for back" in the main menu. So after I moded will it change to America style (X = enter & circle = back)? Can I still choose Japanese language under system config? Thank for help.

really sorry for my bad English.

Modchips shouldn't modify the BIOS language settings or key-configurations. I haven't been able to confirm it, but it should be commonly known.

    Thank you for your reply.

But I have this question because I saw the Direct boot Japanese PS2 selling in HK. All those direct boot Japan PS2 are change to US style already. They said have this result because the direct boot modchip. They usually use NH chip and blue chip. But really don't know about Magic 3/3.1.

Well, this is just an assumption because I don't have a modchip installed, but the NH and blue chips are just Messiah 1/Magic II clones....which was good for the time, but are obsolete now.

As I understand how the modchips work, they bypass the authentication schemes for the discs, not bypass with a hacked Sony BIOS. That would be completely illegal and infringement on Sony's copyright.

Why they said that, I have no clue, but others with more insight as to how the modchips work might want to answer this one.

sioivo, those are HK 30006R ps2s, i myself own one, the system comes like this because it's from asia not japan.
i hope this helps you, the mods dont modify bios in any way.
