PSU problems! Please read!
Be careful. Be very careful. There are different output voltages on 15000 from other models.
We might be able to fix it for you if you send it/bring it to the UK. There are Zener diodes that have probably blown.
The fuses are strapped to Zener Dioides (black things on the back of the resitor circuit). These diodes are designed to eal with exactly what has happened and induces a high current when a higher voltage flows (normally current falls with the same resistance) then blowing the fuse.
So these Zener diodes may need replacing as well as the fuse and your PS2 ought to be as right as rain if nothing else was wrong with it.
My famous 'mate round the corner' did this before my very eyes and 1 hour later had the NTSC PS2 back up and running.
Try this link http://www.engineeringlab.com/zenerdiodes.html and learn about it at this link http://www.americanmicrosemi.com/tutorials/zener.htm
Has anyone been able to find these diodes?, i cant seem to find them anywhere, i've check 4 electroinc supply shops. Can someone please point me to some web sites or shops where these can be ordered.
Thanks in advance.
just to let you all know if you got a broke PSU and dont mind shipping it to the UK and back then I'll repair it for free (well my dad lol) fixed my one about 7 times now
2 Tru CReW I dont mind fixing the PSU myself. Do you have the diodes?, Can I purchase them off you?. I'm in canada and shipping to the UK is way to much.
