Pstwo will no longer read certain games –

I just had a customer return a pstwo w/ MI that he had dropped. It was fully functional except it would no longer read certain games. He says it seemed it was an issue with games above a certain size. I opened it up and noticed his DVD pot was at 834. I increased it to 908 and that fixed the problem. It was a 4D pstwo. Just wanted to share in case someone has the same issue.

I'm using the duo2se modchip, before when I would put in a burnt ps2 game, it would work perfectly fine. But now (months later) the disc seems to be freezing in game and skipping a lot. The ps2 reads the game, but its just that in game it skips a lot. The game "lags" a lot. Anyone know what could be causing this? It sounds like a ps2 problem, not the modchip, but I'm not sure. Could your method be the problem Robochicken?

With the v12 adjustment I did I guess it depends on the laser you have. I wasn't sure how to tell the difference so I just looked at my v12 type which was a 4D and found another 4D pstwo that was working fine, measured the pots and used those values you see in my first post. I think it's better to go by laser type in case the values are different.
If you have the old PS2 here's a link for adjusting it's pot:

So if you want it to read more types of media you'll have to raise the pot value? I just purchased a brand new V12 Laser and it's barely reading a lot of different brand backups. With Ridata discs it gives me the disc not readable message.
