I have a PStwo that boots PS2 games, both DVDR and CDR, but Ive tried PSOne games and cant get them to work. I've used both Sony and Verbatim CD-R to test, and neither work. Is it just a media issue possibly? My chip is a matrix infinity flashed to 1.5.

Wasnt planning on it, too scared

So if I was to have this "repaired" by a modder, would it be a simple thing or difficult? Thanks for all your help to this point!

Easy as only the scex wire has to be checked. If your machine boots ps2 cd-r based games then it should boot psx games aswell, it is not a media related problem then.

I doubt, except if the SCEX line is damaged in any way. (for example if the installer damaged the capacitor or the leg of the CDVD controller)

disable the chip, and see if an original ps1 game boots (hold start button while turning the system on, then hit reset once after seeing the 'disabled' screen)
