I put an MI in a v12 and experienced no video and what seemed like a mechacon crash (couldn't power off). I thought it was my 1/2 watt resistors - i changed it to 1/4th and it didn't help. So I checked carefully and saw that my W point was on the wrong spot! So I fixed that but my pstwo is still doing the same thing. I even removed my MI and still getting no video but I can hear the disc spinning. I also noticed that I get continuity through my 3.3v point to the other end of that surface mount component (that's bad isn't it?) I'm screwed..

That could happen, it's not surprising to me. I have heard some people soldering wrong points on the ps2 and they burnt their ps2. You might want to check the pstwo again to make sure that there is not a bridge somewhere that's keeping it from giving video. Check the board again, you might have missed something.

That's a fuse so it's quite good to have continuity

I just noticed that today on a fresh pstwo. I don't use the end of that fuse anymore like the diagram says. I use the big solder blob to the upper left of it. Anyway I didn't mess around with that pstwo anymore I just got a new one and installed the MI on it.

I neglected to say that I dropped my plyers on the motherboard and also dropped a hot soldering iron tip on the lower left hand area of the mobo as I wash changing it- not enough sleep. And I never use antistatic wrist straps- Finally my office floor is rug.
