If you dont reassemble the pstwo properly you will break off the power button from the pcb.
The good news is it usually just breaks the 4 solder joints that hold the power button to the pcb.
I have fixed a couple by resoldering these 4 points and reassembling the pstwo properly.
I have seen this same problem a few times my self. People send them in this way after they try to remove the top of the case with out removing the void sticker. The back (where the void sticker is) is suppose to lift off first then the front. When you hinge the top of the case back with the void sticker still on the front of the case will catch the power button and break it off if your not very careful. The proper way to re-assemble the case is to hook the front of the case on first then snap it onto the back. It amuses me how people take the void sticker as a holy grail! Just rip the damn thing off when opening your V12! If you **** up your install its on you and not Sony.Quote:

I've broken the power switch off multiple times because I wanted to leave the warranty sticker on the back. It's not too hard to do as long as you have a fine-tip soldering iron.
I've broken a few buttons off too...really easy to solder back. The ribbon is quite indestructible when handled properly.
yeah ive never had a problem with the power button itself.. rather just the ribbonn cable...
last pstwo i opened fine.. it worked after i opened.. i installed the chip.. put the power button assembly back on.. dont work.. its weird cause the continuity on the cable was fine.... but continuity between the points on the female header itself werent good...
heh.. i got the pstwo modded now
and yes i was doing it without removing the warranty sticker
odds are from now i wont be doing it that way heh
