PStwo + Magic5KX Problem - need advice
PStwo + Magic5KX Problem - need advice –

I Installed a Magic KX in a two week old slim PStwo. In my opinion i did a nice job soldering with no bridged points but when i re assembled and tested it the system wouldnt boot. Powered on fine but wouldnt boot to browser. I disassembled it and found that when i screwed the motheboard backing plate back on that i had crushed two wires. I replaced those wires and tried again with the same result. I was kind of scared at this point so i pulled the chip altoghter and re assembled the machine.
It now boots fine to the browser but does not recognize a disc. The disc does not spin at all and there is no icon disc in the browser screen when i have a legit copy of NHL 2005 in the machine.
Is there anything i can check to find a definitive problem ? Did i fry my PStwo ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Try removing the chip... see if the PSTWO works again. Then try to reinstall.

Like hatakiller said, there's some ribbon cables for the drive. Did you by chance disconnect any of them to move the drive assembly to get to that one screw under the drive?

yes i did Anubis. When i initially installed the chip i disconnected the ribbon from the laser head and when i re installed it i moved the laser head forward on the track to get the ribbon back in easier.
I triple checked that all those cables/ribbons were put back correctly and tightly

Okay gave up trying to find the problem and returned the machine for a new one. Installed the same chip in the new machine aswell as a 1.8 resistor and everything works good.
Thanks for all who offered ideas.

Actually you dont have to disturb the sticker at all.
Unscrew the bottom and "flip" the top over like a pizza box. sticker stays in tact and you can get to the guts.
If you have cut the sticker and need to return your machine just peel it altogether. Most department store workers are completely uninformed.
