PSTwo killed.. but why?

the pstwo was only a few days old.. i opened the pstwo to take a look at it and shit.. (book style so warranty sticker was stilll good).. well i put it back together.. and guess what?
it dont work

i got no standby light.. so it wouldnt turn on.. my psu voltage was fine...i checked continuity on the power button cable.. but couldnt figure out how to check fuses...

i presoldered the dms4 pads for when i get a mod... nothing was bridged/shorted...

would a bad trace cause this? cause i cant see a bad trace doing this, rather just not letting me boot a game..

anyways.. hopefully someones got an idea... or maybe have come across the same problem
(i was told pstwos have a trip device but i find that to be pure bs lol)

EDIT: second pstwo killed cause the gay ribbon cable.. first pstwo as i said i didnt even remove the thing..
now this second pstwo which ive opened before and had no permanent problem, just hit the bucket (well not really.. it works but the friggin ribbon cable doesnt work)

i checked the continuity on the cable, and its fine... but it doesnt feed power to the power pcb... i wiggled it around a certain way and got a light but didnt turn on.. i checked continuity between the pins on the female socket for the ribbon cable and it doesnt have any...
so i guess maybe its the connectors...


when u guys dissasemble ur pstwos do u leave the power cable plugged in? or do u remove it

u coudl probyl have messed up the reset board. Umm also u could have made sodler balls on the board i'd take everythign and clean wat u touch

power button would do that?

when i opened it the power button did snapp out but didnt think it broke

There is a big chance to broke it when you close the lid .When it is broken there is no stanby light, and you can't turn on your pstwo.

well it 'was' broken before i even closed the console... as i tested it without the case on

how can u avoid breaking it opening/closing it? without removing the warranty seal

yeah i also want 2 know how to open pstwo w/o damage the power button, and if it has been discused before, can u tell me where i an find it, i cant use the searce, it tak e2 many time, the internet cost is veryyy expensive

opened up another pstwo... just opened it.. plugged it in.. bam no power :o

how the hell u open these things without breaking the power button?

i fixed it.. i took the power button off.. plugged the pstwo in.. and put the button back on and the light came on :o

kinda weird... but it worked :)

by opeing it like a bok u put your self at more risk to break the switch

When I open the PSTwo to without damaging the warranty seal, I usually start by wedging a thin screwdriver-like tool on the right side of the unit to release the catch.

Then I will place it between in the groove between the bottom and top half of the console and bend the plastic a little bit around the power button as I open the unit.

When I put the unit back together, I make the plastic in the same place slip over the screwdriver and carefully feel for any resistance. If there is any, I stop and try again. One note: On USA units the modem port will often hangup on a piece of plastic in the back. Snap it into place as you put the unit back together.

Once I started opening the units like this all my problems of broken power buttons disappeared. :)
