Have you heard??? The PS3 is set to be released later this year.
Looks like $ony's share in the market is dwindling due to the X-Box being so popular. $ony decided that two more years was way too long, mainly due to the fact that you can do so much more with an X-Box, than a piddly PS2....
$ony will have to have hard drive support, live on-line support, PC architecture etc. etc. That's a laugh...

Yes, its for real. It was on the news the other night here in Melbourne, Australia. All's they said was that $ony was releasing the PS3 much sooner, about the middle of this year, but wouldn't admit that Micro$oft were affecting their PS2 sales. They didn't give a reason for the early release.
I'll check and see what was written in the newspapers and post something up about it.

It's not entirely impossible, but I highly doubt the rumor is true. Sony would have to have already produced development units for the game developers. Then the game developers would have to get familiar with the PS3 to develop games on the new platform. If this has already happened, I think something would've been leaked by now.

Look at it froma business aspect. There are 45,000,000 PS2s, but there is 6,000,000 Xboxes. PS2 is not even close to losing grip on the console market, it is and will be dominating for a long time, it is losing almost no market share from the xbox. If they were to release the PS3 so soon, it would kill off the PS2 prematurely, while its still the leader of the market. And it would also allow the PS3 to become week by the time the freon is released by MS. This is false, it doesnt follow any business logic, and like they said, the cell is not even done yet.

Its all a bunch of crap !! I cant believe that all the major gamesite are falling 4 this bullshit !! The PS2 is owning the console scene, and the online thing is a success, why the f*ck should sony come with te PS3 ??
