PS2's dropped on floor
PS2's dropped on floor –
I have 2 ps2's brought in to me, one v9 modded and one v4 unmodded. they have both been dropped on the floor and are now not reading anything. I have stripped them and checked all I can but all seems ok, anybody got any ideas as to what I should check on them ??? They start up fine and try to read the disc but no joy.
You probably damaged your laser. Something must have been misaligned. Does the laser fire a red beam when you put in a dvd game?
Hi Tony, Yes disc spins and red laser beam for a couple of seconds and then it all stops. Laser was my first thought, but i'm not really sure what to check on the laser.
ive had a couple v9's in for the same problem, lasers tested ok but did not want to read discs, one had a broken plastic arm and a bent slide rod, take out laser and the rods then make sure they slide through the laser bushes with no effort, one on mine was jamming due to being bent, one laser had to be replaced, both working ok. i dont know why one laser had to be replaced even though everything tested ok ???.
If you could, put the laser inside another console to see if it's still good. Right now I think you misaligned the laser by the drop.
Ok, my apologies firstly, the one is a v7, not v9
I adjusted this cog and all seems to be ok now, many thanks guys.
Yeah when you dropped it the cog lost it's place probably. I was gonna tell ya to do that . =) Same thing happened to my customer's playstation 2.
another problem v9 ps2, it has been kicked apparently ??? I have measured everything, coils, fuses, pots, they all seem to be ok, laser fires up and disc spins but that's it. I tested another complete drive tray/laser in the console and it worked so it is definitely a laser problem. I adjusted the white cogs both ways as well.
Is there anything else I can do, maybe adjust pots, before I go out and buy a new laser.
