I tried using charlie's guide with primo DVD, all went well but for some strange reason the ps2 wont load the DVD-RW. So I guess my question now is why wont my V5 ps2 read games burned on DVD-RW but it will read movies burned on DVD-RW.

    I have a V5 ps2 with a blue pcb magic 2

Don't shoot me if I'm wrong here, but I didn't think neither DVDrw games nor CDrw games would work on a PS2 period. All I've ever read only mentions CDr/DVDr...I could be wrong...Being that I don't have DVDrom/burner on my PC I only get to play with CDr formats, but from personal experience I can say I've never gotten a CDrw backup to work.

ps2 can read all types of cd and dvd media EXCEPT cdRw (laser adjustment or sumfin)
mess around with the white cog, move the laser a bit, try it with the ps2 OPEN with the disc locker, u'll see the prob if u try that!

Well I'm afraid to try DVD-R because the first game I tried to burn which was Tekken 4, didn't work. I ripped the bare files from the original and saved them to my harddrive before I got my DVD burner by using my old i/o magic dvd drive. Once I got my DVD burner I burned them on a fujifilm DVD-R using nero's DVD-ISO feature (not video ISO), the only option I changed in nero was turning off the joilet because I didn't think ps2 games used it, when I put the DVD-R in the ps2 it acts like the ps2 logo is about to come up but it stays balck for a while and then goes to the browser screen and from there to the red screen. I could try to use STOMP's RecordNow now that i have it but I would rather here a few opinions first on what people think is the problem before I go waste more money on another DVD-R.

PS: Charlie if you're reading this please help

I don't recommend changing the lasers intensity or moving the white cog, you might just make things worse.

i did that, and my ps2 improved reading of all media in horizontal, and vertical.
mjadd, then the prob isnt the dvdrw, if u just copied the files, then thats the prob, u have to back up the lba
try doing Primodvd GI, then GI2iso, then burn w/ nero or primo, whatever u can use.
i do NOT have a dvd burner so i have no idea.

Read Charlie_PS2's article on laser issues. Is basically explains the relation of the PS2s laser and the reflectivity of the disk... This might help you out a bit... Try DVD-r with another game before you start whacking away at your cogs to TRY to read RW... Try another game on different media.

i'm new here... so i don't want to be treading on anyones toes.. but I've got a v7 pal.. the other night was a blockbuster night and the Mrs. got tetris worlds which is a cd game. Ran out of media, and all I had left was a ricoh CDRW. I figured might as well give it a shot... and it worked.. played fine. I don't know what kinda stress it's putting on my laser.. and I'll reburn it to a cdr just in case.. but it does work.
