PS2 won't boot CD-based games, Backup or Original

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem ... I have a V6 PS2 that's currently got a Magic 3+ installed while I wait for a shipment of Messiah 2 Pro chips, and for whatever reason I can't get CD based games to load at all. DVD Originals and -R games work splendidly, and +Rs work after a few drive clicks, but for the life of me I can't get CDs to boot at all. Got a shiny new Guncon2 today along with Ninja Assault and wanted to give it a go ... but the only PS2 I've got in stock is giving me fits with the CD compatability.

Searched through the tutorials and couldn't find anything, and searching the forum's a bit tedious as the function won't let me search for short words like cdr and dvd. Any help would be appreciated.

CD Based games not working also on V6 NTSC-US

What is strange: Audio CD and CD-R are working

Did not find any solution for the moment

Check your W point. W on the Magic 3 does not go on the BIOS. It goes on the little leg of the switch/relay.
