    Hey guys,

Here's another question. I fixed my 3.1 install and have cleared up by Black screen issue . Unfortunately I am presented with a new problem. Here is a list of what works and what doesn't.

    PS1 Originals - OK
    PS1 Backups - OK
    PS2 DVD Originals - OK
    PS2 CD Originals - OK
    PS2 CD Backups - RSOD
    PS2 DVD Backups - RSOD
    DVD Movies - Not Tested

Anyone have any suggestions on where to look, ie; what wires are associated with the PS2 backups? I can't figure out why the PS1 CD backups work great but PS2 CD backups always red screen. I don't mind taking it apart, just would like to know where to start.

    tks.

I'm not sure, but could it be because you're booting only in PS1 mode?

Had this issue last week with a magic2 (i.e. It was booting ps1 copys and all originals, but not cdr/dvdr)in a V5, so i swapped it with a magic3.1 (same wires) worked perfect.

    This could be your prob.

Oushi - If PS2 Originals boot fine, it can only be assumed that I am using correct booting procedures.

What version did you put the chip in? If it's V1-V3, check your DVD controller points.

Also, check your W point. On a Magic 3.1, it DOES NOT go on the BIOS like the Messiah.
The Yellow PS2 auto-boots all. PS2, PS1 stealth and DVD movies.

It's a V5. The W point would make sense to me....only if it played PS2 CD Backups, since it doesn't, I can't see t his being the issue. I do appreciate the input, and I'll try the alternate point just to see.

I also have a V5, with almost the same problem.. my only difference is that mine won't play PS1 backups.... only originals here...

if u look at my other post, you'll see exactly what tribulations i've been through, and I haven't gotten anywhere yet...

I'm beginning to think i bought a dead chip... i got mine at modchip.ca, where'd you get yers??
