PS2 version and Modchip select

Dear Friends,

I am a newbie in PS2, even do not know how to check the version of my PS2 console. Could anyone help me out? By the way, please tell what kind of Modchip I can pick up.

all new mod chips are compatible with all versions ..

well u can find out your version if u look on the board if u have 10 screws on bottom u have a v1-v3 if 8 screws v4-v7 v4s are scph-30001 or 35001 v5/v6 are r models some r models are v4 but check inside to make sure. v7 is scph 39001. these usa models. to make sure u can do a search on the fourm or open your ps2 gl on finding your ps2 version
