Ps2 V7 Magic V Problems
Ps2 V7 Magic V Problems –
07-15-2005,09:47 PM
Just quickly here is my problem.
1. When chip disabled everything (ps1,ps2,dvd movies all original) work fine.
2. When chip enabled , ps1 back-ups work , ps2 cd-r back-ups work.
Original ps2 dvd games don't work , ps2 dvd-r back-ups don't work
Just before playstation 2 logo is due to come on the disc stops spinning , then "no data" flashes on screen followed by red screen. Does anyone have any ideas, because I defiantly run out of them. Here's hoping

have you checked that its not a faulty backup? what media are you using? you might also need to tweak the white geat at the back of the laser unit. first mark the original position then try moving it 2 clicks at a time in either direction.

Thanks for the reply. My backup media should be fine because they all work on other consoles. I tweaked the white gear with no apparent improvement. Like I said I've tried every bloody thing. Any way off the subject I notice your from South Africa , I'm Australian and a couple of my best mates over here (met them through rugby of course) are Zimbabwean . How bad did you blokes play in the rugby last weekend? You just kept kicking possession back to us all game. Those Kiwi's are going to be hard to beat but I'm sure we'll find a way. Thanks again for your input i'll work it out eventually. Cheers

possibly the laser is worn out since it is only reading cd and not any dvd media

Just because it plays Originals well doesn't mean a thing when it comes to booting DVD-R back-ups. The laser sounds like the problem to me as well.

if your sure the wiring is ok, then its most likely that the laser is worn and needs ro be replaced.
PS We dont talk about the rugby here any more - we suck!

Ok, I got her going . Now I'm no expert , I only know what I get off you blokes on these forum pages so I'll just tell you what I did and you make of it what you will.
I adjusted the pots from 1400 to 1260 ohms. No difference noticed. I adjusted them again to 1700 ohms. Got it working on all games (original and back-ups) but then noticed problem with intermittent startup screen.(when chip disabled no problem, when chip enabled no startup screen) Re- soldered scex wire , no difference noticed. re-soldered R wire , works perfectly . Thanks to everyone for your info. much appreciated.
