    Hello..

I've installed a Matrix infinity into a fairly new PS2 7/8. PS2 boots and all, but none of the matrix features work, no backups, no triangle to boot to mem card, no force restore mode. I have the 3.3V and GND wires doubled up 30 AWG, the 3.3v goes to the point in the diagram, the GND goes to the ground track surrounding the PS2. I tested the voltage between GND and 3.3v while it was on and it was about 3.4v so the chip is getting power. I've done all the basic troubleshooting techniques (went over every point with multimeter multiple times) and still just boots up normally.

The one thing I find strange is the 10 second Pad timeout is occuring. So What could that mean? If I start up w/ pad, instant. W/o pad, 10 second wait.

    It's a yellow dot MI.

Ok, booting up into rescue mode now makes the disk spin and laser read the disk, but a black screen after electrons. I redid al lthe BIOS points and the Y,A,B points.

Anybody? Kind of running out of ideas. I've redone about every point now except Y and GND, which I'm gonna do in a bit.

Take the modchip out, try to get the ps2 to work like it did before. Then try to reinstall the chip. I think you made a boo boo somewhere. You can try to swap in another chip first if you think that your soldering is fine. But I doubt it is a defective chip, I've never encountered one.

his ps2 is fine... a messed up y can mess it up. Umm to check if the bios wires were connected correctly and with power ground and y. Boot the console up without a controller if there is a long black screen those wires are correct from wat it sounds like it it isn't butthere could be many things like a bad chip

Yeah, i'm not up to the point of blaming the chip yet. There is a long black pause with no controller as I stated, which leads me to believe it is working somewhat. Also, the rescue mode is almost working, will try to read the disk but nothing happens. (the disk is read and continues to spin, just a black screen).

ok, i did something, and managed to get it started up in rescue and was able to flash it. I must've tried about 5/6 times in a row and it finally picked it up. Flashed it with 1.38 and now everything works fine. that was some strange chip. I booted 8 DVD-Rs on it and all work fine.

    Thanks for your help guys.
