PS2 v4
Hi,
I'm trying to track a fault in a PS 2 Version 4 which has never been modified.
The CD drive doesn't open and the eject button doesn't work, nor does it light.
I have checked the ribbon cable and even replaced it but it had no effect, also checked was the surface mounted fuses but were all fine. The playstation is powering on and booting the browser screen.
Has anyone else encountered this fault or know how to rectify it?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

If you've tried replacing the switch cable already, then your problem may lie in the switch bank itself or the BA chip that controls your eject functions. See if you can sponge a loan of a switch bank to confirm that its not the problem. If it checks out ok, then there's a good chance that the BA chip is fried. Unfortunately you'd need specialised desoldering equipment to change it. Best then to leave it to a pro.

:) :) :)
A GOOD IDEA
If have a BA problem try to put a non-solder modchip and use this for open - close door (press and hold .......)

Maybe fuse? Check the Fuse maps that Chalie made in the FAQ's
