I am doing my friends PS2 w/ a Matrix Ininity + summone's fix, when the ps2 is turned on, it makes some wierd noises (w/ audio, not from the ps2). and games do boot but there is random sounds and its really odd... What could this problem be?

Could be interference from the chip. Specifically W and R. (Remember DeeMMS 3, sometimes you had to lay D E with a grounded wire or else screeching sound would come out?)

    Also thick grounding could help..

I dont omit the possibility of an odd chip, Ive come to the conclusion no Infinity is the same, some work flawlessly on one PS2, while on another one is useless.

    hope it helps

The couple times this has happened to me, the cause has been cold solder joints on the bios points. I redid the bios wires (or touched them up with a bit more solder), and Bob's your uncle.

I haven't heard of interference problems with the Magic/Muppet/M-7, but sure... better to be overly cautious than the reverse.

Sometimes it can happen when one of the wires is squeezed bij the metal plate especially at the screw holes. Thats where the plate touches the mainboard.
