PS2 V12 and Infinity - Dead motor?!
PS2 V12 and Infinity - Dead motor?! –
This is my first post, and already I've broken it . I tried to install the matrix diode fix, but on the last one (top one in the matrix fix diagram) the resistor was damaged, and read 180k rather than the 30k it should read. So I carefully desoldered the surface mount chip, removed all the diodes and replaced the resistor with a new 30k one (used wires to get the resisitor in to the right place). Now all the resistance values are correct, but the spindle still won't turn! The DVD transport moves in to the middle of the disc, and the laser comes on and goes off, then the lens moves up and down twice and then nothing. Have I roasted something pretty major? I've checked all the ribbon cable and suchlike and it seems ok. However, the pins on the far left of the motor ribbon cable (if you hold the spindle with the ribbon cable nearest to you) appear to be shorted. Is this normal? I've checked and the short isn't on the motherboard - it's definitly on the actual spindle itself. I unplugged the spindle and then checked the mobo to see if the short was there and it wasn't. Any help would be greatfully received - either that or can you recommend somewhere in the uk that could fix it?
find some posts by N£TM£ÇH. he had the same problem. i believe he put the diodes on the wrong areas.
I had a good look through and he didn't seem to post his solution to this - there's only the thread saying that his motor was dead.
I'll send him a quick PM and ask if he fixed it .
