should i do romeo mod on my unopen ps2 v10, and also waiting for my dms3+ chip
will i do it? romeo mod on v10, im not sure cuz some one told me that u dont need to, and he said that romeo mod is for v9 ps2?
is this true?
can u tell me what i shoul do?
I personally wouldn't bother. BUT, if you're in there anyway (installing the DMS), then yep, add the extra insurance and do it.
I've done 6 V9 PS2s all w/out a romeo mod and a couple V10s without it (these are NTSC consoles) and personally I have had no problems, so dont worry about it.
I would do the romeo mod on all V9/10 consoles.
I would say to do it, I mean, why not, spend a couple of minutes now, and save yourself $50 for a laser and another $12 for a la chip later.
I wouldn't even take the risk and do the mod anyways. Seeing as there's pretty conclusive evidence showing the 12v(?) connected to pin17 totally kills the chip when crazily tweaked due to irregular media.
'sides, it's better for your customers.
Do the MOD! I have done it on every V9 and V10, and no failiures since.. I had 4 V9s go down before the romeo mod came along.
It is not a proven thing that those dead V9/V10 did not come from a BAD batch, and the newer ones work fine without the romeo mod.
ok if gonna do romeo mod, what best to do lifting pin 17 or cutting the track....when doing romeo mod..?
im afradi lifting the pin17,they said that if u broke pin17 its over for u..., so i decided to do cutting the tracks... which one im going to cut the tracks can u post some pics where im going to cut the tracks and what tools i need to cut it....
thanks in advance
I'd go for lifting the pin - easy enough to do (I've just done mine) Just heat it up and lift it slightly. Not too much. If you bend it backwards and forwards it'll break.
