When the system data (dates, time zone....blah) is fixed at 0 (when you try change the value by press up in the system setting browser, it goes back down automativally, does not matter how fast you press the button), and at the system browse screen, the 8 flying dots goes to a single big dot and stays there not moving at all, after put in a modchip? Which part of the board is likely damaged?

Anyone knows about what is the cause??

    Thank you..

even after I have removed the chip, the symptom stays the same, I think somehwere is damaged or short circuit during the installation..... any idea?

The battery might not be properly inserted or conencted. This is the usual reason. Check around that.

try moving around on the set time ares + move it up and down. that usually solves it.

if not it could be what charlie_ps2 suggested

Thank you all for the help, however, it is did not work. The big Dot is still a big one, and when go into the system setting options, it is like something is keep pressing itself and made th epage a bit laggy and flashing....... and change on the date - time or time-date was unsuccessful........

it is like if somewhere is short, but i really dont have an idea about where it is, used a elecMeter to measure the shorts from point to point everywhere, but not sure where else should I check more carefully.......

Have you tried to reset the configuration ram again? It might not help, but give it a shot. Disconnect the battery cable / remove the battery (depending on your PS2 board), wait a couple of minutes, reinsert the battery and try again.

Maybe you got some solder spill on the clockchip ? it's a 8 pin chip near a 32khz crystal on V0-V4 and a 16 pin chip on V5-V7.

You can change other options, like the language ? These are not stored on the clockchip. But the balls movement are affected by the clockchip.
