i got a magic 5kx+, its been a month or more and still its up and running smoothly. Although it seem to make a lot of noise when playing with backups, i figure that its my crappy dvd burners fault.

I am using Verbatim MCC 02 -r and Sony TY02 +r for my backups, burned at 4x. For some reason my Liteon SOHW822s@832s doesnt seem to do a good job at any burning after i *mess* around with the firmware for a few times.

If you want advanced features the Matrix Infinity/Crystal Chip. If you just want to play backups at a low price the Magic KX is good. Make sure you install the summ0ne fix and maybe the subzero or comsoft fix. They protect your console from laser burnout and console crashes. Try soldering on a broken pc mobo before soldering the v12. I also recommend 22 AWG wire for 3.3 and GND while 30 AWG for the rest. I hope this helps.
