i think i have blown something inside my japanese scph 1000. I pluged in the wrong plug from my new ps2 v7 by accident and now it doesn't come on.

Any ideas what has happened and is there a way to fix it. looks like a fuse has blown of something or would i need to change the power button at the back?

well, on my v5 ps2, NOTHING blew, even though the wrong wire was inserted, though i think you have to check the power area, and maybe even the motherboard.

So you sent 120 down it rather then 110? Ie the power converter was not in the circuit?

my ps2 works on 220~240V type electricity, it has had a 110~120V Stepdown convertor on it and NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER, just doesn't light "POWER" though on my NTSC/J JAP PSX, Once 220~240V Cable Was Inserted, It Caught On Fire, I Mean Smoke, Coming Out EVERYWHERE, but it still worked perfectly after unplugging The Wire, Opening The PSX And Wiping The Condensed Smoke Off The Edge Of The Top Cover, The PS2 May Be Similar, So I'd Look At The Fuse In There.

May I suggest you like color code your power wires with some paint to prevent this kind of stuff? Have you checked the fuse located on the power supply to see if it is blown? There should (atleast on american ones) be a glass fuse on the actual power supply. Good luck with it man I would hate to lose a 10000.

Heh ... I just fixed a SCPH-10000 PSU today ... and it were plugged to 220v.
It has a pair of diodes that get shorted if the PSU get more than 120v as input. (it is for 100v with something arround 15% of tolerance)
You will get the fuse blown and the diodes shorted. You WILL need help from a professional in order to fix your system.

I hope this info was of any help
